Vita

Uwe Brandt, who was born in Saarbrücken in 1957, already had ambitions to become a serious musician in early life.

His early affection for violin has remained until today, but he discovered an other, bigger instrument which took hold of him.

No! Not the „instrument“ in the background,

the one in the foreground, for sure!

He was so fascinated, that he even gave free rein to

his passion at inconvenient times, not always for the neighbours' pleasure.

Before he started studying under Alexander Sellier at the Musikhochschule in Saarbrücken, he had had first success at „Jugend musiziert“ under his first teacher Hans Clasen, a Gieseking-'s student.

After further achievements (1980 scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes) he studied under Monique Haas (Paris) and at last under Jean-Claude van den Eynden (Brüssel 1982-1986).

Since 1984 he has been teaching at the Hochschule für Musik Saar, has played concerts in his home country and abroad - as soloist as well as chamber musician – and has worked with numerous namable colleagues such as Joshua Epstein, Moshe Epstein, Peter Hörr, David Todd, Klaus Trumpf, Jone Kaliunaite, Tuncay Yilmaz, Hande Öszyrek, Michael Flaksman , Sebastian Voltz

Since 2003 he has been the director of the

Musikschule Sulzbach-/Fischbachtal

with about 600 pupils and 30 teachers. Furthermore he is the promoter and artistic head of the

Meisterkonzerte und internationalen MeisterkurseSulzbach/Saar.
